A Sad Day for Coffee

As ridiculous as it sounds, when Starbucks runs out of their winter cups and goes back to the plain white and green cups, I get depressed. Not because I'm so in love with the winter cup design that I just can't live without it. But because the return of the "normal" Starbucks cup means the holidays are over. There isn't another grand party or event to get excited about and go to. Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years have all passed and now the only thing left is cold and snow and... waiting.

While most people recognize Advent as the season of waiting, for me it is January through April. I've made it well know that I am far from a fan of winter. Cold makes me depressed. Scraping ice off my car makes me want to cry. So, after New Years, when my coffee is served to me in that white cup with the familiar green logo, I buckle down and prepare for the long waitthe wait for the warmth and sun and joy that I know will accompany the summer.

Today Starbucks reminded me that my waiting has begun.
